Eva C. Edwards – 102 – a resident at Elderwood at Hornell Nursing Facility, formerly of Catherine St., Hornell, died Monday morning (January 13, 2025) at St. James Hospital following a disagreement with Old Age!!
Born in Thompson, PA on January 4, 1923, she was the daughter of Lewis “Bert” & Margaret (Geyer) Curtis.
Eva grew up in Thompson and later resided in Susquehanna, PA where, as a licensed beautician, owned & operated her own beauty shop for many years.
Moving to the Hornell area in the 1950’s, Eva had been employed as a floor secretary on the Maternity Ward at the former St. James Mercy Hospital. She enjoyed knitting & crocheting and was known for creating beautiful afghans, women’s jackets, scarves and gloves which she gave to family & friends.
Eva was married to Donald E. Edwards who died July 19, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Curtis, Ida LaVitt, Darwin “Buster” Curtis, Burton “Sonny” Curtis, Arlene Doyle, Joan Tully, Marion Hirko and Margaret Arnold, and her granddaughter, Lisa Edwards.
Surviving are her son, Donald R. (Sheila) Edwards of St. John’s, FL; her daughter, Deborah (John) Falci of North Hornell; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
The family of Eva C. Edwards will receive friends on Saturday, January 25th, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY. Funeral & committal services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 12:00 Noon with Deacon John Falci officiating. Burial will be in North Jackson Cemetery, Jackson Township, PA.
Eva’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital. Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.

Mrs. Edwards was always welcoming and friendly, kind lady. I always enjoyed speaking with her.
It has been quite sometime since our paths crossed .May she rest in peace.
Joe and I spent many a happy hour with Eva Delores Broderick and Joe’s mom- Twila..and sometimes at jim and lucille’s home at the lake in Pennsylvania. Happy memories
