A celebration of the lives of John “Jack” & Edna (Bash) Kohnke will be held this Memorial Day Weekend at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.
Jack & Edna’s family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home where a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Their ashes will be interred in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Edna (Bash) Kohnke was born July 25, 1923 in Marion OH and died January 27th, 2007 in Leesburg, FL. She grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1941).
John “Jack” Kohnke was born in Pittston, PA on December 3, 1923 and died November 10, 2010 in Leesburg, FL. He was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1941) and was a member of the HHS Basketball Championship team.
Jack & Edna were married on February 15, 1947. Throughout the years they resided in many locations including Walton, NY, Liverpool, NY, Minnetonka, MN, Snellville, GA and had lived in Leesburg, FL since 2002.
They were preceded in death by their daughter, Martha Kendall. They are survived by their children, Bob, Patricia, John, Mary Ann, Jim, Kris & Karen.
In addition to calling hours and the memorial service, friends are also invited to join the family for a luncheon on Sunday from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Hornell Elks Lodge on the Broadway Mall.
In appreciatin to Jack’s service to his country as a member of the US Navy during WWII, the American Flag will be flown at Half Staff at the Dagon Funeral Home.
