Rose M. Parks – 67 – of 106 Front St., Hornell, died Friday morning (February 27, 2015) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a long illness.
Born in Hornell on August 31, 1947, she was the daughter of Donald & Phyllis (Woodworth) Wyant.
Rose grew up in Hartsville and attended Canisteo Central School. Throughout the years, Rose was employed at various businesses and for many years worked as a cashier at Smokin’ Joe’s in Hornell.
She was a former member of the Hornell VFW. Rose enjoyed playing video poker and other games on her computer and also loved shopping. Her greatest joy, however, was simply spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Rose was married on November 23, 1968 to Michael “Mike” Parks who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Marcy Parks of Rochester and Michelle (Scott) Eason of Hornell; 6 sisters, Mary (Joseph) Carbone of Hornell, Barbara (Raymond) Vosburg of Hornell, Bonnie (Rick) Ankenbauer of Erie, PA, Leanne McCarthy of Hornell, Judy (Brad) Okonski of Almond and Eleanor (Michael) Duffy of Hornell; 1 brother, Harold Wyant of Hartsville; 3 grandchildren, Kristi Parks, Michael Fisk and Colbie Eason; 1 great-granddaughter, Rilee Parks; her cousin, Shelly Eckrote; many nieces, nephews & cousins.
The family of Rose M. Parks will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 11:00 AM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
Rose’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14642. Memorial forms will b available at the Dagon Funeral Home.
