Mark S. Sawczyszyn – 57 – a resident of Southview IRA in Wayland, NY, formerly of Hornell, died unexpectedly Thursday morning (May 17, 2012) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, where he was taken after being stricken at home.
Born in Hornell on May 12, 1955, he was the son of Stephen & Elnora (Butler) Sawczyszyn.
A resident of Hornell for most of his life, Mark moved to Wayland about 8 years ago. He had been a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann’s Church. While residing in Wayland, he enjoyed the time that he had spent working at the Dogwood Day Service in Dansville. He later looked forward to spending time at the Adult Day Care at McAuley Manor in Hornell.Mark had a great love of music and enjoyed fishing & camping. He also loved watching old movies (especially westerns), Marvel Movies & DC Comic Movies, especially Spiderman. He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and also loved watching NASCAR. Mark loved going on car rides especially going to McDonalds. He also enjoyed simply relaxing and watching the fish in his aquarium. His happiest times, however, were derived from being around other people and the many visits from his family. His face would “light up” when he knew that he would be spending the day with Cindy, Charlie & Jeff.
Surviving are his sister, Cindy (Dan) Burdell of Hornell; 2 brothers, Charlie Sawczyszyn of Hornell and Jeff (Beverly VanTreese) Sawczyszyn of Canisteo; 2 nephews, Matthew Burdell & Brian Burdell; 2 nieces, Catherine Burdell & Jamie Sawczyszyn; 1 aunt, Sheila Marlatt; his cousins, Dana Sawczyszyn, Rich Marlatt, Michaeleen McCaig & Darleen DeNicholais.
The family of Mark S. Sawczyszyn will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, where funeral & committal services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Mark’s family request that memorial contributions in his name be made to Southview IRA, 25 Southview Dr., Wayland, NY 14572. Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.
Mark we will truely miss you. I am very sorry for your loss, he was a great guy and he will be missed by all.
