James E. Quant

James E. “Jim” Quant – 58 – formerly of Hornell, died early Thursday morning (May 12, 2011) at the Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport, PA, following a long illness.

Born in Hornell on September 27, 1952, he was the son of Frank & Verna (Windsor) Quant.

Jim Grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1972).  Following graduation from high school, he served in the US Navy.

He had been employed for a time at the City of Hornell Department of Public Works.  Throughout the years, Jim resided in many locations, including Hornell, Philadelphia, PA, Wellsville and Andover.  For most of his life he worked as a truck driver for several trucking companies.  He was an avid hunter & fisherman.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Quant; 2 brothers, Ivan Pryor and Leroy Pryor.

Surviving are 2 sons, Theodore “Ted” Quant of Hornell and James “Jay” Quant of Elmira; 2daughters Erica (Matt) Brundage of Wellsville and Linda sue Carrier of Florida; 1 step-son, Frank (Laura) Conley of Olean; 1 step-daughter, Kimberly (Mike) Slawson of Wellsville; 2 brothers, Lloyd (Daisy) Quant of Arkport and Arthur (Patricia) Quant of Hornell; 3 sisters, Anne (Lyle) Crosby of Prescott, AZ, Lavina (John) Ewing  of Las Vegas, NV and Theda Drew of Hornell; 5 grandchildren, Ted JR, Vincent, Brandon, Nicholas, Jon Benet and Ethan; 1 great-grandson, Wyatt; 1 aunt, Rose Brown of Cuba; several nieces & nephews.

The family of James E. “Jim” Quant will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY, where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 11:00 AM with Rev. Patrick Harrison officiating.

In recognition of Jim’s military service in the US Navy, the American Flag will be flown at Half-Staff at the Dagon Funeral Home.

    My condolences and prayers go out to the Quant family. We knew Jim and loved jim a lot and he will be sadly missed he had a very big heart to other people. We are sorry we couldn’t make it but we have other comminitmants. But he will be sadly missed Love for the whole family and prayers
