Robert T. “Bob” Manhart – 75 – formerly of 71 Church St. Court, Hornell, died unexpectedly early Wednesday morning (February 23, 2011) at Sue’s Rest Home in Hornell where he has resided for the past 2 months.
He was born on March 26, 1935, and was the son of Milo & Marjorie (DeGroff) Manhart Sr. & the adopted son of Leona Manhart.
A native & lifelong resident of Hornell, Bob attended school in Hornell. In his younger years he had been employed in the maintenance department of the Steuben County Department of Social Services. He was also a laborer doing farm work in Burns, NY.
Bob enjoyed hunting & fishing and will be remembered for his genuine love of the Christmas season. He was a kind & gentle man who will be missed be everyone who had the pleasure of being his friend!
He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Manhart; 2 sisters, Dolores Wing and Ruth Hill.
Surviving are his brother, Milo (Arlowine) Manhart, Jr. of Hornell; his sister, Barbara Manhart of Burns, NY; 2 sisters-in-laws, Elizabeth “Betty” McDowell of Hornell and Martha Manhart Cleveland, OH; several nieces & nephews.
The family of Robert T. “Bob” Manhart will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 11:00 AM with Rev. Gary Miles and Pastor Dan Jackson officiating.
Bob’s family request that memorial contributions in his name be made to the Burns Community Church Building Fund, 9891 Burns Road, Arkport, NY 14807. Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.
