Carolyn J. Finnerty – 78 – of 10516 State Route 36, Dansville, died Sunday morning (May 23, 2021) at her home.
Born in Elkland, PA on august 5, 1942, she was the daughter of Lee & Kathleen Bliss and was raised by her step-father, Jack Jeffers.
Carolyn grew up in Elkland, PA and attended Elkland High School. For many years she resided in Rochester and in 1999 she moved to North Bingham, PA. She has resided in Dansville for the past two years.
She had been a member of the Willing, NY Volunteer Fire Department and was a live member of the Wellsville VFW.
Carolyn enjoyed crocheting and was known for making beautiful quilts & blankets. She also loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping & fishing. Her greatest joy, however, was simply spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She was married on August 16, 1959 to Edward Finnerty SR who died in 2009 after 50 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Bliss; and her grandson, Wayne Finnerty.
Surviving are her son, Edward (Debra) Finnerty JR of Macedon, NY; 2 daughters, Julie (Ray) Wilson of Palmyra, NY and Amy Butler of Dansville; 1 sister, Debra (Randy) Seeley of Elkland, PA; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews.
At Carolyn’s request there will be no calling hours. A “Celebration of Life” will be held on a date and time to be announced.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.
Carolyn’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
