Catherine R. Solo – (88) – formerly of 314 Arlington Place, Hornell, died Wednesday afternoon (October 20, 2010) at the Steuben County Health Care Facility in Bath where she has resided for the past three years.
Born in Hornell on August 13, 1922, she was the daughter of Carman & Frances (Beaird) Solo.
Catherine was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1941). She had been employed as a fabric tester in the lab at Stern & Stern Textile Corporation for over 60 years, retiring in 2003. She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ignatius Loyola Church and later St. Ann’s Church.
Surviving are 2 sisters, Elaine Grazioplene of Churchville, NY and Patricia Emerson of Hornell; 1 brother, Francis “Joe” (Lucy) Solo of Hornell; several nieces & nephews.
At Catherine’s request there will be no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church with burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
Catherine’s family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to the Steuben County Health Care Facility Activities Fund, 7009 Rumsey St. Ext., Bath, NY 14807
