Robert F. “Bob” Morgan – 72 – of 5204 County Route 8, Avoca, NY died Wednesday evening (July 26, 2017) at the Bath VA Medical Center Hospice Unite, following a long illness.
Born in Herkimer, NY on July 30, 1944, he was the son of Robert & Mary (Karpiak) Morgan.
Bob grew up in Lyons, NY and was a graduate of Lyons High School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving his country during the Viet Nam era.
Throughout the years, Bob resided and worked at various places in the Rochester and Canandaigua areas and has lived in Avoca for the past 22 years. In recent years he was self-employed as a carpenter and “Jack of All Trades”.
Bob enjoyed rooting for the Buffalo Bills and in his younger years enjoyed hunting.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Morgan who died in 1998 and also his brother, Rex Morgan.
Bob was married on July 7, 2003 to the former Sharon (Bassett) Towner who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Kimberly Morgan of Las Vegas, NV and Jennifer Pingrey of Silver Springs, NY; 1 brother, Rodney (Dee) Morgan; 3 step-children, William (Linda George) Towner of Dansville, Connie (David) Canfield of Dansville and Shawn (Jenna) Towner of Wayland; 6 grand-children; 3 step-grandchildren; several great-grand children and step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
At Bob’s request there will be no calling hours or services. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.
Bob’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
