Josephine M. Fenti

Josephine M. Fenti –  formerly of 1 Sawyer St. Site, Hornell, died Friday morning (August 6, 2010) at McAuley Manor, where she had resided for the past 1½ years.

Born in Detroit, MI on August 14, 1914, she grew up in Italy, returning to the United States at the age of 13, living with her mother, Rose and step-father, Bennie Yarcone.

Josephine was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann’s Church.  She had been employed at Birds Eye Frozen Foods in Avon for about 10 years and also worked as a seamstress for a local company.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and was a great cook, specializing in homemade pastas.

She was married at the age of 16 to Frank F. Fenti who died in 1964.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Frank Fenti and her sister, Mary Miller.

Surviving are 3 daughters, Telena (“Bucky”) Brownell of Hornell, Rose (Denny) Linehan of Hornell and Debbie (Peter) Olds of Hornell; 1 son, Amileo Fenti; several sisters; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews.

At Josephine’s request there will be no calling hours.  Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.

Josephine’s family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to either McAuley Manor, 1 Bethesda Drive, North Hornell, NY 14843 or the Hornell Humane Society, PO Box 533, Hornell, NY 14843.
