Carl A. Carpenter

Carl A. Carpenter – 53 – of 167 Lincoln St., Hornell, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning (July 20, 2010) shortly after arrival at St. James Mercy Hospital.

Born in Wellsville, NY on October 11, 1956, he was the son of Gerald & Lillian (James) Carpenter.

Carl grew up in Short Tract, NY and Birdsall, NY and was a graduate of Canaseraga Central School (class of 1974).  Following high school, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving his country from 1974 until 1978.

He had been employed as an electrician for Champion Sporting Goods Co. and later worked for the Town of Birdsall.  For the past 25 years he was employed as an Industrial Engineer for Alstom Transportation Company.

Carl was a member of the Canaseraga American Legion and the Hornell Association.  He enjoyed cooking — especially outdoor grilling and also spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Carpenter.

Carl is survived by his loving companion, Amy Wilson; his children, Debbie Colombo of Westminster, MD, David (Sandra) Colombo of Cleveland, OH, Stacy Colombo of Arkport, Eric (Patricia) Moure of Miami, FL, Randy Carpenter of Hornell and Lilliana Carpenter of Hornell; his mother, Lillian Carpenter of Houghton, NY; twin sister, Carol Carpenter of Wellsville; 3 brothers, David (Nancy) Carpenter of Fillmore, Daniel (Theresa) Carpenter of Canaseraga and Rodney (Lisa) Carpenter of Birdsall; 8 grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.

The family of Carl A. Carpenter will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY where funeral services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.

Carl’s family request that memorial contributions in his name be made to the Lilliana Carpenter Education Fund, C/O Amy Wilson, 167 Lincoln St., Hornell, NY 14843.  Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.
