Mark J. Cappadonia – 56 – of Conway, SC formerly of the Alfred-Almond area died unexpectedly Saturday (September 20, 2014) at the Conway Medical Center, following an acute illness.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Donna Petric Cappadonia and his beautiful children Anthony Vincent Cappadonia and Rebecca Louise Cappadonia. He was born to the late Anthony C. and Zora Babcock Cappadonia in Hornell NY, and was later blessed to have his stepmother Bebe Cappadonia of Almond, NY.
Born in Hornell on May 4, 1958, Mark grew up in the Almond-Alfred area and was a graduate of Alfred-Almond Central School (class of 1977). He later attended Alfred State College. Mark was a proud US Veteran, serving in the US Air Force from 1980 – 1984.
He had been employed for many years at Hornell Electronics and later as an Auditorium Technician at Alfred University. He has resided in Conway for the past 10 years.
He most enjoyed his job as an auditorium technician at Alfred University where he became a father figure to many students. He had a special love of gardening and found his serenity in the beauty of nature. A natural teacher, he was a leader for the local Boys Scout Den #3 and an advisor for a campus club ‘the Forest People’ at the university. He lived life to the fullest. He taught his children to have compassion, integrity and love for others by sharing those same characteristics he had within himself. He will be remembered by all for his infectious laughter and his love of life. Mark always displayed courage in sharing his heart and being a comfort to others. Nothing gave him more enjoyment than spending quality time with his wife, family, and faithful dog Sparky. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his step-mother, Bebe Cappadonia, survivors include 5 brothers, John “Rick” Cappadonia of Louisiana, Anthony Cappadonia, JR of Hornell, Chris (Nanette) Cappadonia of Howard, NY, Joseph (Stephanie) Cappadonia of Virginia and Patrick Cappadonia of Almond; 5 sisters, Sue (Albert) Avery of Bath, Pamela Wright of Houston, TX, Kathleen (Duane) VanWaes of Houston, TX, Therese (Scott) Delventhal of Lexington, KY and Louise Ballard of Buffalo, NY; and many nieces & nephews.

To Mark’s dear family,
There are no words to express my deepest sympathy. I will see you Thursday.
My dear brother will be so greatly missed and forever loved for his kind heartedness and the love that he had for his children, wife and his family. Your laugh will forever be in my smile. We loved you Mark more then you ever knew. Too much sadness for our family. Then to see our dads name on the same page as our brother makes everything so real. Rest in peace honey..
My thoughts and prayers to Donna and BeBe. I have had the great please of working with Donna and had a lot of fun. Many good memories.
I remember Mark’s infectious personality and laugh when we worked together at Hornell Electronics. He was always there to lend a helping hand at work and home. He was like an older brother to me. Even though life pulled us in separate directions I will never forget the good times we had together. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Sincerely, Reg & Vicki Evans
To the family of Mark-
Although I did not personally know Mark very well, we were friends on FB as I know his brother Chris and I’m sure Donna remembers me . It was obvious Mark was a great guy and family man. My heart goes out to all his family for their loss.
God Bless,
Tim Lloyd
