So much I can say about this great man.. Always there to give a smile , or a wave, or just how a how do you do.. John was my neighbor for over 6 years and the memories will last me a lifetime.. My kids helping washing his car to my daughter bring me over a nice shining tomato( that come to fine out she took from his garden) .. All he could tell her was you can keep it if you want too.. He wasn’t at all upset.. Said kids will be kids.. John will be very missed and the neighborhood won’t be the same again.. Rest in peace my dear friend till we meet again…
So sad to see this wonderful man has passed away. He would always say hi and ask me how I was doing in school and when I told him or showed him my report card he would congratulate me with a big smile on his face. It will always be weird in the neighborhood now walking outside and not seeing him sittin on his porch reading a book or the newspaper. Rest in Peace John me and everyone else that new you will miss you immensely.
It is really sad to hear that tis man had died. he would always let me wash his car and when I went over there we used to chat for about an hour and when I told him about my grades he would say I could get better if I try harder in school he would always have faith in me.
DEAR ANN AND FAMILY
JOHNNY WAS A WONDERFUL MAN WHO WILL LIVE IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER. HE WAS MY NEIGHBOR GROWING UP AND HIS FAMILY AND MINE WERE VERY CLOSE, LIKE FAMILY. I REMEMBER WHEN HE CAME HOME FROM THE ARMY AND I STOOD ON THE RAILING OF OUR PORCH AND SANG TO HIM. ” WHEN JOHNNY COMES MARCHING HOME AGAIN” I WAS A LITTLE GIRL OF ABOUT 6 YEARS OLD AND I CAN REMEMBER HOW PROUD I WAS. THE IMAGE OF HIM IN HIS UNIFORM IS LIKE A STLL PICTURE IN MY MIND. GOD REST HIS SOUL AND BRING PEACE TO HIS FAMILY AND KNOW HE WILL BE FOREVER THOUGHT OF WITH LOVE

Thinking of you and your family at this difficult time. My Dad, also a railroader from the 5th ward, spoke highly of your Dad. I have fond memories of the whole family from Lincoln School and St. Ignatius.
