Albert W. “Big Al” Arnink SR – 57 – of 2014 Big Creek Road, Hornell died early Tuesday morning (August 13, 2013) at home, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Port Chester, NY on November 14, 1955, he was the son of Thomas & Rosemary Arnink.
Big Al grew up in Stamford, CT and Norwalk, CT and was a graduate of Norwalk High School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving his country during the Viet Nam era.
A resident of the Hornell area for over 25 years, he was employed for about 15 years as a mechanic at M-K Corporation in Hornell. As a gifted mechanic, Albert enjoyed working on and rebuilding cars —especially vintage Volt wagons.
He enjoyed watching movies and especially loved the time he spent with his family at “cookouts & get-togethers”.
Surviving are 1 son, Albert Arnink JR of Hornell; 2 daughters, Brandi (Leo Hall) Arnink of Hornell and Felisha (Philip) Drake of Hornell; his wife and the mother of his 3 children, Cynthia; his mother, Rosemary (Paul) Nelson of Stamford, CE; 1 brother, John (Cheryl) Arnink of Naugatuck, CT; 1 sister, Nancy (Ken) Arlands of Bangor, Maine; 12 grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
In recognition of Albert’s service to his country, the American Flag will be flown at half-staff at the Dagon Funeral Home.
